Ryan Fox won the Canadian Open in the end after a long-drawn out play-off against Sam Burns.
The Canadian Open is one of the most famous old trophies in the world of golf, but the tournament this year felt like it never really got going.
It definitely lacked a certain kind of star power, especially after Rory McIlroy missed the cut.
However, Fox won’t care a jot about that, after he racked up his second PGA Tour win in a month.
Fox has been praised for his pace of play at the Canadian Open, and it really was a joy to witness him pull the trigger on his shots just seconds after pulling his club.

However, there were plenty of irritating moments for the viewers watching the Canadian Open on their TVs as well.
Golf fans react to ‘unnecessary nonsense’ from the PGA Tour at the Canadian Open
There was a moment during the play-off between Fox and Burns when golf fans were left shocked.
PGA Tour officials decided to change the hole location to the front right of the final green after the first two play-off holes.
It seemed like a really bizarre move at the time.
And a lot of golf fans really didn’t like the idea.
X user @flygriz took to his account and ripped into the PGA Tour, “Unnecessary nonsense.“
While another golf fan echoed the same sentiment, “Ridiculous.“
Meanwhile, a third golf fan was also baffled by the decision to change the hole location on the 18th, “Stupidity.“
A fourth fan took to X and simply said, “Stupid”, in reaction to the PGA Tour’s decision during the play-off hole.
While a fifth golf fan offered slightly more balance, “It needed to change. Maybe a tee box change would have been better. I know they wanted to finish in 18 because of fans.“
A sixth suggested it simply wasn’t a good look for the tour, “Not a good look unless weather is a consideration.“
Before a seventh golf fan shared his surprise at the decision to move the hole location, “Why would they do this instead of just moving to a different hole?“
Meanwhile, an eighth fan was also dumbfounded by the move, “Never seen this before and it makes 0 sense.“

What the PGA Tour could have done differently for Canadian Open play-off
Changing the hole was a bizarre move, and one that hasn’t been seen before in professional golf.
However, the real frustrations from fans centred around the fact that Fox and Burns were forced into laying up on the par-five 18th hole during the first three attempts at playing it.
Why didn’t the tour move the tee up 10 or 15 yards to tempt the players into going for the green in two?
It would have been an easier move than swapping the hole location.
The Canadian Open is a prestigious trophy, and what the PGA Tour did during the play-off was far too gimmicky and unbecoming of such a prestigious event.
It may have been a niche move, but it looks like it was an unpopular one on the whole.
