The 2025 Ryder Cup is 11 months away, and fan fury has emerged after the organisers announced exorbitant ticket prices for the Bethpage Black event.
Tickets costing more than $750 angered USA fans earlier in the week, and many are now set to miss out as a result.
YouTube golf star Rick Shiels said the prices were ‘ridiculous’ but also suggested a reduced capacity at the Long Island venue could be the reasoning behind the decision.
Golf Channel pundit Ryan Lavner has now shared his view and didn’t hold back in his assessment of the Ryder Cup from a spectator standpoint.
Ryan Lavner says Ryder Cup is the worst spectator event

Speaking during the Golf Channel Podcast, Lavner sent a warning to fans planning to attend the Long Island event.
“The Ryder Cup might be the worst tournament to attend in golf. You can’t get particularly close to the action. You can’t see anything,” Lavner said. “All the action, as opposed to being spread over a regular PGA Tour event, is essentially confined to four different holes.
“Singles matches are obviously a different animal. So they are going to be on four separate holes, roughly 10,000 people following along. You can’t see. A lot of the greens at Bethpage Black are going to be elevated; it’s a very, very tough sell from that respect.”
Ryder Cup fans set to think twice about 2025 Bethpage Black showdown
The ticket prices and potential viewing experience at Bethpage will cause many to think again when it comes to attending the Ryder Cup.
As Lavner mentions, watching the action can prove difficult due to the sheer number of people following each group.
Those parting with $750 will be eager to be front and centre of the action, which seems unlikely at Bethpage.
Had tickets been nearer the $100 mark, fan fury wouldn’t have emerged. Tickets for the Ryder Cup in Rome last year maxed out at $250, which demonstrates just how much of a hike ticket prices have taken this time around.
