Brooks Koepka is set to feature at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October as the LIV Golf star makes his first DP World Tour appearance of 2024.

The five-time major winner was given a sponsor invite to the St Andrews event and will line up alongside Rory McIlroy at the home of golf.

Koepka, who is one of the highest-paid golfers of all time, hasn’t won on the DP World Tour since 2014 and is looking to become the first American to claim the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The American’s participation has sparked much debate online, and fans believe his inclusion is an ‘interesting’ development, as LIV players are currently unable to play specific events.

Popular golf fan account, Flushing It, suggested Koepka’s participation could be the start, with more LIV players announced in the coming days.

“This is a really interesting development,” they wrote. “Hopefully, more LIV players will be announced in the coming days. Maybe Jon Rahm, too!”

Another fan added, “This is lovely. We had tons of LIV guys at the BMW International Open in July, and they really were a great addition to the event. I hope even more come along next year!”

Another fan said, “Great news!”

Finally, fan account 54 Golf suggested that LIV, PGA Tour, and DP World Tour players are taking matters into their own hands as talks between the PIF and the PGA continue in New York.

DP World Tour set to welcome more LIV Golf players

Koepka isn’t a member of the DP World Tour, meaning he was exempt from any fines or sanctions.

However, for some, like Tyrrell Hatton, who is still an active member, punishments are a genuine concern.

Punishment was handed out for every LIV Golf event Hatton participated in at the same time as a DP World Tour event. It’s believed the Englishman has served any outstanding suspensions. Hatton was able to compete at the British Masters due to a pending appeal for sanctions imposed on him.

LIV players Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann, and Jon Rahm could all return in the coming months as the DP World Tour nears its conclusion.
