Shane Lowry is still in contention for The Open after a stinking third round but his comments afterwards have gone down like a lead balloon with the golfing world.
Lowry carded a six-over par 77 to drop down the leaderboard and surrender the good work he had done on day two.
Luckily for Lowry, the conditions were a nightmare for everyone else as well and he remains just the three shots off leader, Billy Horschel.
Royal Troon really showed it’s teeth on day three as high winds and torrential rain battered the players and caddies.
However, playing in such conditions where it’s so hard is not for everyone it seems.

Justin Thomas commented on the course and after getting favourable conditions, was complimentary about the course.
Dustin Johnson felt the back nine was as hard as it gets in golf, while Scottie Scheffler agreed with that sentiment, suggesting it was the hardest round he’d ever played.
For Shane Lowry, a man who is used to the links courses, the set up didn’t go down well though and he lamented the lack of forward tees.
“Have to question why there wasn’t a couple of tees put forward today… I think 15 and 17 — like 15 is 500 yards playing into that wind. Yeah, they keep trying to make holes longer, yet the best hole on this course is 100 yards.”

Of course, among the fans of golf, those comments from Lowry have gone down as a bit of a whinge and over on social media, Lowry has come under fire.
Golf fans unimpressed with Shane Lowry after his comments at The Open
As is always the case when a professional sportsperson has a bit of a moan, the fans are quick to jump on it.
And for Lowry, it looks like he’s done his credibility a bit of damage by complaining.
Another user, @Nsparks2, called Lowry a ‘sore loser’ for his comments
“Nobody cares if he was a fan of the setup or not Dan? He was the leader and played in the same conditions as everyone. #soreloser“
While @TDPetris laughed at a European player complaining about the conditions
“Another Euro complaining about course setup when there were multiple 65s and 66s fired today. Loser energy. If the course was so unfair, everyone would have shot 77“
The pattern continued on as well, with few people having any sympathy for Lowry.
