The DP World Tour will soon take centre stage on the golf calendar with the return of the BMW PGA Championship.

Before that, however, there is the always entertaining BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am at Wentworth.

And a very exciting pairing has already been announced ahead of the event, with Robert MacIntyre set to partner with Andy Murray.

The tennis legend has plans to become a scratch golfer following his retirement from tennis, with golf fans recently assessing Murray’s swing.

He will undoubtedly gain a fantastic insight into what it takes to perfect his game from fellow Scot MacIntyre at Wentworth next week.

Golf fans are saying the same thing about the Robert MacIntyre and Andy Murray pairing

The latter will have been in a similar position earlier this summer, with MacIntyre playing with idol Phil Mickelson at The Open Championship.

Golf fans have now shared their excitement at his latest pairing, with one writing on X: “This is awesome two of my favourite sporting heroes.”

A second excited user said: “That is a must to be broadcast,” with a third commenting: “That’s awesome.”

A fourth delighted fan said of the pairing: “One legend with a future legend,” with a fifth noting: “Dream team!”

Another excited fan shared their delight at the partnership, commenting: “Superb!! Go fly that saltire high gents.”

How will Robert MacIntyre and Andy Murray do at the BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am?

Murray clearly knows what it takes to compete at the very highest level of elite sport, with the Scot having won 46 titles throughout his glittering career.

That includes three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals, with his ability to shine under pressure certain to help his golfing ambitions.

MacIntyre meanwhile won the Scottish Open earlier this year, becoming the first Scotsman to win on home soil for 25 years.

And that superb victory came just a month after he clinched his first-ever PGA Tour win at the RBC Canadian Open.

His fine form should help the Scottish duo shine at Wentworth, while their chemistry should be second to none.
