Andy Murray might have decided to hang the old tennis racket up but it looks like he could be on his way to building a golfing career.
Murray called it quits after the Olympics this year and the former Wimbledon winner very much goes down in the history books as one of Britain’s greatest sports-people.
Still, it’s a long time to be not doing anything once retired and Murray looks like he could be turning his hand to golf.
The Scot has changed his social media bio on X to say he used to play tennis, now plays golf, while the BMW Championship at Wentworth has confirmed Murray will play in the pro-am.
Of course, we don’t know how Murray will take to the course but given he’s an elite athlete in another sport involving hitting balls, his transition might be smoother than most.
Still, he’s got to reach a certain level if he’s to get to scratch as he’s suggested.
And after a video clip of his swing was doing the rounds on social media, he’s left himself open to the usual critique of the masses.

Golf fans assess Andy Murray’s golf swing as he aims to get to scratch
Naturally with anything like this, the comments are full of ‘experts’ and Murray will probably be sat having a good chuckle at some of the feedback.
In fairness, he did ask for tips and as usual, the comments on X haven’t disappointed.
Still, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Murray despite the above two comments, with one fan suggesting it might not take too long once Murray overcomes a few issues.
“Elite athlete – once he learns hip clearance isn’t that dissimilar to hitting a serve or a forehand and he’ll be at scratch in no time” @lensdistrict said.
While another fan, @grahamkcox, seemed to echo the above sentiment.
“Pretty good…..bit more work on lower body and he will be scratch in no time with his mindset…..translating his younger self at a tennis player I.e. occasionally volatile, will need to work on that side w golf to learn how to piece a score together but it will come”
@Simonlester24 chipped back in with a bit more of a negative slant, labelling Murray as ‘wooden’.
“It’s a bit wooden isn’t it!”
While another user, @Toestrike went as far as to suggest Murray was telling fibs, and that he has indeed had plenty of golf practice in the past.
“He’s talking rubbish. He’s been playing Golf for years with his brother. I can’t tell you how I know that, but he’s a stroppy golfer who throws things. Jamie is an exceptional Golfer though.”
It seems, then, that Andy Murray might have some fans to win over when he does take to the fairways at Wentworth!
