Collin Morikawa is safely into the weekend at the Scottish Open after producing a steady display in round two.

The American star is among a cluster of top names from the US to make the journey to Scotland in preparation for next week’s Open at Royal Troon.

Morikawa has found himself back in some nice form of late and having won The Open before, he’ll be among the players who many have an eye on next week.

Of course, for now, it’s about getting the business done at the Renaissance Club up in Scotland and Morikawa is firmly in contention after two rounds.

Morikawa shot a very tidy round of four-under par to go into the clubhouse at minus nine overall and just a few back from early leader, Ludvig Aberg.

As we know, Aberg is looking imperious already but Morikawa is not out of it and he produced one of the shots of the tournament so far to show his class.

Faced with standing in the bunker to play right-handed, Morikawa opted for the unorthodox left-handed stab/chip and played it to perfection.

Morikawa’s ball landed just a few feet from the hole and it’s safe to say his attempt with his left caught the eye.

Golf fans stunned by Collin Morikawa’s left-handed shot during round two of the Scottish Open

There’s always something for fans to comment on on social platforms when it comes to golf but when someone produces a moment like Morikawa did here, it captures more attention than most shots.

And over on X, golf fans were loving what they saw from the American.

Morikawa didn’t actually go on to make the putt for par, something certain golf fans wanted to point out as well.

@CalebMHelms was quick to point out the missed putt.

“Show us what happened before this and why he made bogey from 65 yards in the fairway”

However, the praise to criticism ratio was more in the favour of the praise side, as @gunsngolf pointed out.

Masterful. I have to do crap like this all the time because I’m always in trouble on the course. He makes it look easy

While another fan admitted they couldn’t even fathom how Morikawa did it.

Safe to say, then, that Morikawa has left quite the impression so far during his opening two rounds of golf in Scotland.

Whether he can produce over the weekend and reel the leaders in, remains to be seen.
