Decision time is looming for Keegan Bradley with the USA Ryder Cup captain set to announce his six picks to complete his team on Wednesday.
While many will be confident in predicting Luke Donald‘s six picks for the Ryder Cup, Keegan Bradley appears to have a much tougher task on his hands.
Nine of the players who finished tied for 10th or higher at the Tour Championship were American. Incredibly, just two of them have automatically qualified for Bradley’s team at Bethpage.
The big talking point is whether Bradley will include himself in the lineup. But there is almost certainly going to be a shock or two along the way.
Gary Williams warns Keegan Bradley against one pick he is likely to make for the Ryder Cup
The likes of Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa have been stalwarts of the team events in recent years. Meanwhile, Ben Griffin won twice on the PGA Tour in 2025. Cameron Young and Chris Gotterup have also tasted victory in the last two months.
The likes of Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay have found some form of late. Burns is reportedly set to receive one of the picks. But Gary Williams believes that Bradley may be about to make a big error.

Speaking on 5 Clubs ahead of Bradley’s picks being announced, Williams insisted that there is one player he expects to get a pick who he believes should be left out.
“One of the guys who I absolutely think should be on the outside appears likely is going to be on the inside, and that’s Collin Morikawa. And none of this stuff is personal, it’s just evaluating these potential participants. And I don’t get it. I do not get why pundit after pundit, analyst after analyst keeps coming on the air saying – and I get it because I think it’s likely that he’s going to be picked – but I don’t get why it’s likely,” he said.
“He has one top 10 since March. One. And he has been going through caddies like most people go through drive-throughs. I don’t understand it.”
Why Collin Morikawa can have few complaints if he is left out of the Ryder Cup team
Morikawa appeared to be a lock for the team after he finished second at The Sentry and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. In fact, he finished no lower than tied for 17th on his first six starts of the year.
However, his only top 10 since then came against a weaker field at the Rocket Classic. He is not playing particularly well right now.
He is also outside the top 100 for strokes gained around the green and putting.
| Strokes gained category | Collin Morikawa’s PGA Tour rank (2025) |
| Off the tee | 13th |
| Tee to green | 2nd |
| Approach | 3rd |
| Around the green | 111th |
| Putting | 141st |
| Total | 14th |
It would be a big call to leave Morikawa out given his ceiling is so high. However, it has been some time since the 28-year-old has come close to hitting those heights.
Morikawa, therefore, can have few complaints if he receives a call to tell him that he will not be involved in New York.
