Now that the FedEx Cup Playoffs are over, all eyes in the golfing universe are on next month’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

The last Ryder Cup in Rome was so exhilarating that fans have been looking forward to the upcoming event ever since.

And with the added speculation over Keegan Bradley’s role on the United States team, the excitement has built to an all-time high.

While we already know the six automatic qualifiers for the USA Team, Bradley still needs to confirm his captain’s picks.

Well, the latest report suggests that the 39-year-old has already made one fairly surprising decision ahead of the Ryder Cup.

Keegan Bradley picks Sam Burns for USA Ryder Cup team

Besides the dilemma of whether to play himself, Bradley has so much talent to choose from for the Ryder Cup at Bethpage.

Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, and Ben Griffin are among the United States players in contention to be selected.

However, Bradley’s first of six picks appears to be the 16th-placed player in the qualification standings, Sam Burns.

“Sources familiar tell NUCLR GOLF that Sam Burns has received the call from captain Keegan Bradley to play for Team USA at Bethpage Black,” read the latest report on Bradley’s plans.

Burns finished T7 at last weekend’s Tour Championship, and he also had the same result at the US Open, where he had an excellent chance to win with only a few holes remaining.

Sam Burns’ record at the 2023 Ryder Cup

Besides his impressive recent form, Burns has two clear advantages over many of his competitors for a place on the United States team.

A key aspect of Ryder Cup selection is the potential pairings for the foursomes and fourballs formats, and Burns is good friends with and often a practice partner of Scottie Scheffler.

Plus, Burns has prior experience of playing in the Ryder Cup two years ago in Rome, albeit his record was not impressive.

Burns and Scheffler lost 4&3 to LIV Golf duo Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton in foursomes before beating Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg 4&3 alongside Collin Morikawa in fourballs.

Burns had the unfortunate task of playing against an inspired Rory McIlroy in the Sunday singles, where he lost 3&1 at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
