A hole-in-one, for any golfer, is an extremely rare occurrence. It’s believed the odds of a professional making an ace are around 2500/1.

Some of the world’s best players have made multiple holes-in-one, while others have not yet achieved the feat; this demonstrates just how much luck is involved.

Bryson DeChambeau has just one ace, whereas Phil Mickelson claims he’s made 47. LIV Golf star Jon Rahm’s tally of eight is slightly more believable.

Now, nine-time major winner Gary Player has revealed his hole-in-one tally – and the South African has given Mickelson a run for his money.

Speaking during a recent YouTube video alongside Grant Horvat, Player revealed that he’d made 37 holes-in-one, one of which was lucky.

Player’s 36th hole-in-one came in 2023 at the age of 87. “I wonder if that’s the first PXG with a hole-in-one. You wonder, honestly, look at the size of that [the hole], from that distance, how does it happen? And yet, it happens so often. No. 36,” the nine-time major winner said.

Player has also made multiple aces at The Masters’ par-three competition.

Who has the most hole-in-ones on the PGA Tour?

There are two players tied for the most holes-in-one on the PGA Tour: Hal Sutton and Robert Allenby.

Sutton and Allenby have ten aces each and sit three clear of a six-way tie for second. Given the regular occurrence the pair found the bottom of the cup, Sutton and Allenby would argue some skill is involved.

Gary Chalmers and Corey Pavin are two of the players with seven PGA Tour holes-in-one. Mickelson, despite claiming he’s made 47, has managed six whilst playing on Tour.

Tiger Woods has three whilst competing in professional events.
