The US Open is rapidly approaching, with Oakmont Country Club playing host to the major championship next month.

Golf fans have criticised Oakmont’s layout ahead of the tournament, which represents the third major event of 2025.

Rory McIlroy won The Masters at Augusta National, with Scottie Scheffler then winning the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

Focus now turns to the US Open, although there are significant PGA Tour and LIV Golf tournaments taking place beforehand.

The Memorial Tournament and RBC Canadian Open take place on the former, with LIV Golf Virginia taking place on the latter.

Patrick Reed qualifies for US Open at Oakmont

But LIV Golf has now highlighted one of their own regarding the US Open, where a long list of players will be looking to upset those on the PGA Tour.

Patrick Reed has become the latest to join the list, with the one-time major champion having now qualified for the US Open.

Reed, who won The Masters in 2018, qualifies thanks to his position within the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking.

Reed was one of the earliest recruits on the Saudi-backed tour, which the American joined from the PGA Tour in 2022.

He won nine times on the PGA Tour before his switch, with the 4Aces GC player currently occupying 14th place in the LIV Golf individual standings.

Reed has already taken on The Masters and the PGA Championship this season, finishing third at Augusta before missing the cut at Quail Hollow.

Another chance for a second major title will now arrive next month, where he will join many LIV Golf players in the field.

Fresh from contending at the PGA Championship, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm will both be involved.

Former major champions Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka and Cameron Smith are also set to compete at the US Open.
