Scottie Scheffler won The Players this weekend to continue his fine run of form and make it two big wins on the spin on the PGA Tour.

Scheffler roared from behind to catch the leaders and in the end, win by one stroke on 20 under.

It was nail-biting stuff at times as Wyndham Clark lipped a putt out on the final hole to take it to a playoff. But in the end, Scheffler’s class as world number one shone through.

Scheffler is being lauded by different golf pundits as playing some of the best golf since Tiger Woods in his prime. And speaking on Sky Sports, former major winner Rich Beem admitted that Scheffler is even doing something he didn’t see in Woods.

Scottie Scheffler outdoing Tiger Woods in one facet

Speaking about Scheffler and the quality he has, Beem admitted he finds it hard to understand how the world number one can play so well every week with such little fuss.

Indeed, he even believes that Scheffler is playing a more relaxed version of golf than Tiger ever did.

“That’s who he is. I don’t know how you can go week in, week out and play with such little fanfare and produce the quality of swings, the quality of putts, the quality of play, time and time again. Even Tiger Woods was never relaxed when he played this well. I mean Scottie, again, you said it, he looks like he almost falls out of bed and says ‘here’s a 65, thanks very much’. And it’s just not that big of a deal to him,” Beem said.

“He’s just one of these dynamic players that knows exactly what he’s going to do, how he’s going to do it, and isn’t bothered with it! Here’s the funny thing with it, when was the last time you heard him shout at his golf ball? It doesn’t happen! That ball goes exactly where he wants and expects it to go.”

Scheffler will now head towards The Masters in around a months’ time as one of the favourites to win.

Indeed, Laura Davies has even suggested he might win all four majors this year, such is his dominance at the moment.
