Scottie Scheffler was quite simply unstoppable at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson this week.

Scheffler firmly cemented his place at the top of the Official Golf World Rankings with a dominant display at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

There is nobody in world golf who has been as consistently good as the 28-year-old American over the past three years.

After the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Jordan Spieth said Scheffler will be very hard to beat moving forward.

That’s what you call stating the obvious.

Although Scheffler hadn’t won before this week’s tournament, he had been knocking on the door in pretty much every single event that he played.

Erik van Rooyen played alongside the two-time major winner during the final round at TPC Craig Ranch on Sunday.

The South African shot a brilliant eight-under-par 63, but he made up no ground on Scheffler.

Scheffler safely tucked away the win in McKinney, Texas on Sunday.

It was arguably the most stress-free victory of his career, as he won by eight shots from Van Rooyen.

The runner-up spoke to the press after his final round, and absolutely raved about the irresistible force that is Scheffler.

He was asked whether he was disappointed by not getting closer to the American.

Van Rooyen said, No, not at all. I’m really proud with how I played. We spoke last night, and I told you it was going to be a steep mountain to climb, and it was. Scottie was practically flawless, which is kind of what you expect from the World Number 1. But, yeah, really proud with the golf I played.

The South African was then asked what it was like to play alongside the world no.1.

He responded, I don’t play with the World Number 1 too often, and you’re almost flabbergasted in a way because I’d fire in — like that 5-iron on 9 comes to mind. I hit it to whatever it was, five feet, and he just makes the eagle. There’s nothing you can do. Absolute hat’s off to Scottie. He’s played fantastic golf.

And finally, Van Rooyen was asked to explain what the atmosphere was like during the final day at TPC Craig Ranch.

And he replied, It was phenomenal. There was actually a couple of South Africans out there, which was cool. I get it, everyone is rooting for Scottie. It’s in Dallas. So many Go Scotties out there, but there were a couple, We love you, Erik. So it was cool.

Scheffler’s incredible PGA Tour stats in 2025

If Scheffler putts even to an average standard, he wins. It really is as simple as that.

His exquisite ball-striking with his irons can be matched by nobody in the game right now.

The 28-year-old’s stats in 2025 have been remarkable. Really, it’s a huge surprise that he only has one win to his name.

Van Rooyen was obviously hugely impressed by Scheffler during the final day of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

And he’s certainly not the first person to have admitted being awestruck after playing with the two-time Masters champion.
