DP World Tour claimed to have made decision that PGA Tour players ‘might riot’ over at latest event

The DP World Tour is in South Korea this week for the Genesis Championship.

And according to Michael Kim, any PGA Tour players competing in the event would not have been happy at all with one decision made by the DP World Tour organizers.

There are some huge names in the Genesis Championship field this week, including Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Scott.

Nacho Elvira and Mikael Lindberg are leading on eight-under par heading into the final round, with Haotong Li among the names two back on six-under and Matsuyama a shot further back on five-under-par.

The course at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club played very difficult on Saturday, with the complex and intricate green designs causing problems for many players.

However, there was one hole in particular which could be described as ‘borderline’ to say the least.

Kim took to his official X account on Saturday to share his feelings on one hole which caused the players at the Genesis all sorts of problems on Saturday.

Kim highlighted how the pin location on the par-three 13th hole at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club would have PGA Tour players pulling their hair out.

He said: “Haha this is a hole/pin location famous in Korean pro golf circles. PGA Tour players might riot if they saw something like this (Korean golf fans consider good courses to be really difficult ones so they often put pins in crazy places like this one).“

It’s a fair point from Kim.

The hole was located right on the edge of a slope and as you can see from the below video, balls traveling past the cup with any kind of pace ended up rolling off the green.

Some might say that’s unfair but in Korea it is obviously all part of how things are done, and the DP World Tour clearly paid homage to the local tradition with their pin location selection on the 13th hole on Saturday.

13th hole stats at the Genesis Championship on Saturday

Out of the 74 players who made the cut, only seven birdies were made all day on Saturday.

20 players made bogeys, while Andrea Pavan made a double bogey and Joe Dean carded a triple bogey six.

That leaves 45 players who made pars on the challenging par-three.

The entire field at the Genesis Championship in Korea averaged a score of 3.24 on the 13th hole on Saturday.

The hole was only playing at 198 yards long, so it was clearly the pin position which made things so difficult for the players.

As Michael Kim said, there would have been many disgruntled players if the PGA Tour organizers opted to use a pin location like the one the DP World Tour went with on the 13th hole at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.
