It was Keegan Bradley who posted the lowest round of the day on Saturday at the Tour Championship, with the 39-year-old moving to within three shots of the lead at East Lake.

Keegan Bradley found himself nine shots back after Thursday at the Tour Championship. However, the US Ryder Cup captain has brought himself right into contention with 18 holes to play in Atlanta.

A 64 in the second round followed by a 63 on Saturday has left Bradley right in the mix to win the FedEx Cup for the first time in his career.

Bradley is three shots adrift of both Patrick Cantlay and Tommy Fleetwood.

One person who would usually be delighted to see Bradley’s performance in these circumstances would be the Ryder Cup captain. The picks to complete the USA side will be announced next week, so it is quite a boost for the home side ahead of Bethpage to have Cantlay and Bradley playing well.

Of course, it is Bradley himself who will be making the picks. It will be fascinating to see if he decides to include himself in the lineup given that Bradley will be wary of what will happen if he plays and USA lose in New York.

But following his performance on Saturday at East Lake, Dan Rapaport took to social media to insist that Bradley has every reason to pick himself in the coming days.

What Keegan Bradley will do for only the second time in his career with a victory at East Lake

The talk surrounding Bradley taking on a playing role ramped up after he won Travelers Championship back in June. It felt impossible to not get wrapped up in the atmosphere around the 18th hole at TPC River Highlands as he snatched the victory from Tommy Fleetwood at the final hurdle.

Bradley’s form dipped in the weeks after. And with that, the debate over his place in the side started up again.

But should he win the Tour Championship, the calls for Bradley to play will surely become too loud to ignore.

In fact, to Rapaport’s point, a victory at East Lake would mark only the second time in Bradley’s career he has managed to win at least twice in a single season.

If he is prepared to try and tackle both jobs, Bradley will have every reason to include himself in his list of captain’s picks.
