With the end of the PGA Tour season in sight, many fans’ thoughts will soon be turning to the upcoming match between Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, and Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

Certainly, the highlight of December’s calendar is going to be the battle between the two biggest stars on the PGA Tour and the two men who have won major titles since moving to LIV Golf.

The subplots do not end there. Both Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau won one major in 2024, while Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka have engaged in an unofficial battle over who will end their career with more majors – with Koepka currently having the edge.

And obviously, few will ever forget the battle between McIlroy and DeChambeau on Sunday at Pinehurst in one of the most enthralling days in major championship history, with DeChambeau clinching his second US Open.

That day highlighted how DeChambeau has become one of the most popular players on the planet. DeChambeau has done that with the content on his YouTube channel, as well as some of his other antics on social media – including trying to make a hole in one over his house.

DeChambeau has now attempted the challenge over the last 12 days, enabling himself to take one extra shot each day. Unfortunately, he is yet to find the bottom of the cup.

It could be a task which takes some time, but what may not help is the social media team from his own Crushers GC outfit taking shots at him. In response to his latest attempt, the team poked a bit of fun at their captain…

The hope will be that the match at Shadow Creek meets expectations. Certainly, it could be such an exciting opportunity. And hopefully, the two sides see the importance of putting on a show if they hope to bring the game back together.

There was an argument that DeChambeau may rival Scheffler for 2024’s player of the year if he had managed to win The Open Championship. And of course, many will be fascinated to see him and McIlroy go toe to toe again.

You would imagine that he will be putting in a lot more practice than the limited number of shots he is giving himself each day to hit a hole in one over his house.
