Collin Morikawa pushed Scottie Scheffler all the way at The Memorial yesterday and came up just short but the American still found time to praise the world number one.
Scheffler held his nerve going down 18 to make a difficult chip from the rough and then hole a tricky five footer to take his first win at Muirfield Village.
For Scheffler, the chance to finally get that winning handshake off Jack Nicklaus meant the world to him and he goes into the US Open this week in fine form.
Of course, Morikawa had a front row seat alongside Scheffler to see just how good he is.
And speaking about Scheffler’s brilliance after the tournament was over, Morikawa explained just what makes Scheffler so good right now.

Speaking to the media about the world number one, Morikawa explained how Scheffler just has so much going for him right now that he’s the complete package.
“Everything. The guy could be off balance and the ball is right down the middle of the fairway. His ball striking is incredible,” Morikawa said.
“Growing up his short game and putting was always amazing but how good he hits his irons and the control he has is amazing.
“Distance control is key and king and he has got that.”

That’s the question on everyone’s lips really.
At the moment, contenders are stepping up to try and see Scheffler off and finding it near impossible to do so.
Morikawa played very well all week at Muirfield and then just didn’t quite have enough to get over the line.
Going into Pinehurst this week for the US Open, it’s going to take a miraculous drop in performance from Scheffler and then an equally brilliant four rounds from someone to knock him off his perch.
Right now, he looks unstoppable and those comparisons to a prime Tiger Woods will continue to get made.
