Collin Morikawa’s struggles continued at The Open this week as he missed the cut in brutal fashion and he’s been reflecting on his week over on social media.
Morikawa has been tinkering with different caddies in recent weeks and has had Billy Foster on the bag for the last few events.
However, that hasn’t worked out just yet, with Morikawa missing the cut last time out at the Scottish Open and then following suit at Royal Portrush this week.
Morikawa’s score of seven over par meant he was nowhere near making the cut line and while he’s a lock in for Team USA and the Ryder Cup, his form of late will worry him.
Now, over on his Instagram page, Morikawa has been in a reflective mood as he assessed his efforts.

Collin Morikawa says what’s next after missing the cut at The Open
Right now, Collin Morikawa is the sixth best golfer in the world according to the OWGR and given his form earlier on in 2025, this feels like a bit of a blip.
The American will hope it’s a temporary one as he gears up for the FedEx Cup, a title he came so close to taking last year behind Scottie Scheffler.
Indeed, over on Instagram, Morikawa has now detailed his plan for the next few weeks as he looks to put the last two weekends behind him.
“Sometimes you feel like you’re out there alone but I know I’ve got the best team and family behind me. Just a little bump in the road the past couple months. Time to reset these 2 weeks off and get the mind/body where it needs to be. Let’s make a big push in the playoffs,” Morikawa wrote.
Collin Morikawa’s winless run is concerning for Team USA
A player like Collin Morikawa should be winning more often on the PGA Tour, it’s that simple.
We have to go back to the ZOZO in the 22/23 season for Morikawa’s last win on tour and that is just not good enough for a two-time major winner.
Sure, he’s had some close calls in that period and played some good golf along the way.
| Strokes gained category | Collin Morikawa’s PGA Tour rank (2025) |
| Off the tee | 10th |
| Tee to green | 2nd |
| Approach | 6th |
| Around the green | 79th |
| Putting | 109th |
| Total | 8th |
But wins are what matter in this sport and with a Ryder Cup coming up, his lack of getting over the line will be a concern for Keegan Bradley and co.
While there are no doubts about the talent Morikawa possesses, he needs to get this monkey off his back ASAP.
