Collin Morikawa is among a cluster of players who are within four shots of Scottie Scheffler ahead of this weekend’s final round at Muirfield Village.
The two-time major winner carded a fine four-under par third round to put himself in the mix behind Scheffler.
It was the second four-under round of the week for Morikawa, with his two-over second round effort sandwiched in between.
Of course, the world number one is ten-under par himself and will need to have a bit of a disaster to lose out on the Sunday.
And commenting on trying to reel Scheffler in, Morikawa conceded that it’s no easy task.

Speaking about his final round today and trying to catch Scheffler, Morikawa admitted he doesn’t see Scheffler going anywhere on Sunday.
“Look, Scottie’s not, I don’t expect Scottie to fall back. I mean the wind was in a different direction to what we thought on the last few holes but it makes 17/18 a little bit tougher. I’m still going to have to go out and shoot a really good score tomorrow but look, this course bites,” Morikawa said.
“I’ve got to go out and put a round out like I did today. As I said, Scottie’s not really coming backwards and I’ve got to play some steady golf. It doesn’t mean I’ve got to press. If I shoot four under again I’ll be really happy.”

It’s pretty much what Morikawa says here but there’s no way he can approach his final round simply hoping for Scheffler to mess up.
Morikawa has to go out and shoot a decent score and hope that it puts him within touching distance of top spot.
At the end of the day, Scottie Scheffler is playing so well right now that it’s almost impossible to reel him in and rely on him being poor.
Morikawa, then, simply needs to out, shoot a low score, and hope for the best.
