Collin Morikawa will be desperate to be part of Keegan Bradley’s U.S. Ryder Cup team in September.

And Bradley himself will be hoping to make his own Ryder Cup team as well.

Morikawa actually slipped outside of the six automatic qualifying spots last week, but a good finish at the Rocket Classic will put him right back on track.

Amazingly, Morikawa has split with his caddie Joe Greiner ahead of the Rocket Classic, only one month after linking up with him.

He’ll be hopeful that a fresh approach with a new bag-man will help him really kick on now.

In complete contrast, Ryder Cup captain Bradley has been with his caddie, Scott Vail, for eight years now.

And it’s looking very likely that Vail will have some work to do at Bethpage Black in September.

Bradley has hinted that he could act as a playing captain at the Ryder Cup, and that would be a huge move from him.

Collin Morikawa makes claim about Keegan Bradley and Ryder Cup situation

Morikawa addressed the media on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club.

The 28-year-old answered a wide range of questions.

Midway through his press conference, attention switched to Bradley and the Ryder Cup.

Morikawa was asked to give his opinion on Bradley’s form and the possibility of him serving as a playing captain at Bethpage.

The two-time major champion said: “Yeah, I mean look, right now he’s playing as one of the best Americans and one of the best golfers in the world winning a Signature Event, the consistency I think he’s brought this year.

Yeah, I’m sure there’s already contingencies to be put in place because it’s not like it wasn’t a possibility that that could happen. That’s on him.

All I know is that as a captain already, he’s done things, and I’m not saying there’s been bad captains, I’ve had great captains my past two Ryder Cups, but he cares so much about the team and he cares so much about representing the United States that it like bleeds out of him and it bleeds into us, and that just motivates me more.

I know I got kicked out of the top 6 after last week, I’ve got some work to do, but it’s like man, you want to be there. Like you want to be wearing red, white and blue because when you have a captain like that, when you have other teammates like that, you want to be there, trust me.

Collin Morikawa’s 2025 PGA Tour stats

Morikawa has been nowhere near his best this season, and he has really struggled since just missing out on victory at Bay Hill in March.

Here are his stats from the 2025 season so far:

StatsRank
Strokes gained off the tee10th
Strokes gained approach6th
Strokes gained scrambling115th
Strokes gained putting109th
Strokes gained total8th

His numbers are actually really good in most categories.

However, it’s obvious to see that Morikawa’s relatively poor short game and putting is really holding him back.

If he is to win again, and qualify for Bradley’s Ryder Cup team automatically, he will need to address those issues as soon as possible.
