Keegan Bradley won The Travelers Championship in the most dramatic of fashion as he fought back to beat Tommy Fleetwood to win out.

Bradley played well all day and got himself to within a shot of Fleetwood going down the 18th.

However, when Fleetwood left his iron shot from the fairway short of the green, Bradley played a truly remarkable shot to get himself to within a few feet of the hole.

Then, with Fleetwood clearly nervous and making a three putt, Bradley held his nerve to make birdie and win by one in the most dramatic of ways.

Now, with Bradley up to world number seven and with a chance at being a playing captain for the Ryder Cup, the American seemed to suggest that is his plan afterwards.

Bradley was speaking to the media on the green immediately and was obviously delighted with his efforts to get the win.

And speaking about what it might mean for his Ryder Cup playing hopes, Bradley seemed to suggest he could well be involved on the playing side.

“Absolutely incredible. I feel an obligation to play for the people of New England in the North East and represent them and this is the best way I can do it,” Bradley said.

On the shot he was most proud of in getting it over the line, Bradley admitted it was the little putt he mad at the last to get the job done.

“That one right there. That was just one of all the shots and putts I hit I think I remember that one the most. Ryder Cup playing captain, have you convinced yourself you would be an additive to your team now?

“Go USA!”

Rory McIlroy gave Tommy Fleetwood the kiss of death

While Bradley’s win was massive and is the story for us all, the agony for Tommy Fleetwood was there as well.

Fleetwood has yet to win and it is a heartbreaking way to lose when he basically had it in his hands.

Furthermore, Rory McIlroy had already spoken of Fleetwood’s potential win in what ended up being a bit of a cursed comment.

Asked to speak about Fleetwood after his own round finished, McIlroy seemed to believe the win was in the bag.

“Yeah, Tommy’s been a great player for a long time and he’s more than due, or he was more than due, so, yeah, he’s got so much talent and so much ability and obviously it’s great to see him get over the line,” McIlroy said.

Whether Fleetwood will ever get the win now and whether Keegan Bradley does opt to play as a playing captain at Bethpage, remains to be seen.
