The LPGA season is about to get underway this week over in Florida and one of the star names looking to make a big impact in 2025 is British star, Charley Hull.
Hull has made a big impact in the sport in the last few years and she’s picked up two LPGA Tour wins so far, while also coming within touching distance of winning the US and British Opens, as well as the Chevron Championship.
With Nelly Korda so dominant in 2024, Hull found it difficult to build on those wins but nevertheless, she caught the eye with some excellent golf, honest opinions, and a unique look in terms of smoking on the course.
Hull has been putting in the work in the off-season, with regular posts on social media showing her putting in the hard yards in the gym.
However, after some criticism and questions from golf fans over the style of workout she chooses, Hull has now had to hit back and explain her reasoning.

Charley Hull explains her training routine ahead of the LPGA season opener
As we all know, Hull is not afraid to voice her opinion or speak out when needed.
Hull was the one who called for tour card removal due to slow play, so she is never shy of getting involved if she’s passionate about something.
And now, hitting back at certain golf fans on her Instagram page, Hull has explained why she chooses not to do golf specific training in the main.
“People are asking why I run so much and why I don’t do golf specific training. 1 – Golf training is boring I have no interest in that at all but the training and weights I do help with golf,” Hull wrote.
“2 – I love running as a hobby and for my fitness and my mind. The more fitter you are, the less jet lag you get and the more stamina you have. 3 – ‘You’ll get injured’ – No, because I do my recovery, ice baths, compression boots, physio, and massage. And I hate being a slob, I love always being on the go and living life in the fast lane. Sleep is key though. I get about 10-11 hours a night but I can survive on four to five no problem.
“4 – ‘You smoke’ – Yeah I do, it’s the only bad thing I do. I don’t eat unhealthy I eat super clean, I never drink alcohol, probably two-three times a year max. I got all my drinking on the way when I was 18/19 (good times). Here’s to all you Karen’s out there!”
What Dame Laura Davies said after Charley Hull starred in the Solheim Cup
Charley Hull is on the verge of something big and her training and mindset is clearly something that means a lot to her.
While she’s not got over the line in the majors yet and has two wins to her name, she is a serious competitor and played a starring role in the Solheim Cup last year.
So much so, that Dame Laura Davies spoke highly of Hull and couldn’t believe she’d not won a major.
“I can’t believe she’s not already [a major champion], as she’s so talented,” Davies told Sky Sports News.
“It’s not easy to win major championships, we all know that, but that’s what we’d hope for her because she’s that good.
“She just needs to win more tournaments and get herself into contention more. I know she’s up there a fair bit and she has lots of close calls in majors, the US Women’s Open and the AIG Women’s Open last year, but you feel it has to happen at some point.
“She has been superb this week. She turned up, she has been great fun and has been keeping us all entertained, but then she produced on the course as well – you can’t ask for more as a team-mate than that.”
With Hull seemingly focussed going into 2025, that first major might well be in sight.
