Cameron Smith led his Rippers GC team to another win on the LIV Golf circuit this weekend as they won out in Singapore.

After last weekend’s incredible scenes over in Adelaide Australia, Smith’s team once again came up trumps to take home the team title for the weekend in Singapore.

For Smith and his team, there was no sign of a win in terms of the individual effort. That was won by Brooks Koepka, who produced a dominant display to win by a few shots.

However, the team element went to Smith and his Rippers team of Lucas Herbert, Marc Leishman, and Matt Jones.

Today’s round required the class of Smith and Leishman to bring their A games as they finished second and third on the individual cards behind Koepka.

Smith, of course, looked to be in a touch of pain after round one on Friday. And when asked about that injury, the Australian revealed what the issue is.

Cameron Smith shares injury update after Rippers GC win in LIV Singapore

Speaking to the media after The Rippers secured a second consecutive win, Smith was asked about an apparent hip injury bothering him through the three days.

“No not really [his hip being that bad]. It just flares up from time to time, I’ve had it off and on for the last two years or so. I think given the heat and how soft the ground was it was probably just working a bit of overtime and got a little bit sore that first day and I struggled to get into the left side but I got fixed up and was good to go all weekend, so yeah, all good,” Smith said.

Smith could be in contention for the majors

It’s easy to forget about Cameron Smith sometimes when it comes to the majors but this is a man who has already got over the line.

Due to his calm demeanour and how he simply goes about his business, he’s often a player who gets overlooked as the likes of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm seem to get the nod from a lot of fans.

However, on today’s showing and the fact he very nearly reeled Koepka in, Smith is very much in the hunt with the PGA Championship coming up in a few weeks.

If he produces the sort of golf he showed this weekend, then he could well be the man to usurp the in-form Scheffler.
