LIV Golf Adelaide is in the bag for another year as Joaquin Niemann ran out the winner but there was more good news for the Australian fans before LIV made their exit.

Scott O’Neil has announced that LIV will remain a feature event in Adelaide until at least 2031.

Adelaide has been one of the biggest hits for LIV since they started and the event in 2024 which saw Smith and his Rippers GC team win was one of the most memorable ever.

This time around, Smith couldn’t quite emulate that success, finishing down in 30th as his Rippers struggled in general.

However, looking at the bigger picture, the former Open winner was delighted to hear more positive news from LIV’s chiefs.

Cam Smith reacts to LIV Golf’s Adelaide announcement

Smith was chatting to the media in Adelaide after the tournament had ended and conversation quickly turned to the 2031 announcement.

And for Smith, the fact LIV have committed so soon into their existence is pretty impressive for him.

“No. I think our first one was Spain that was a three- or four-year deal, and then this kind of went on top of that. But yeah, to have another six, it’s pretty crazy and so cool,” Smith said.

“We all love coming down here. It’s kind of the middle of the country. Everyone travels here, and they’ve got a really good thing going, so it’s exciting for it to just keep coming down here, keep being better and better every year. It’s got better every year. I can’t see why it can’t get better again next year.”

Smith was then questioned on the news that Greg Norman is helping build a new LIV course over in Sydney. And for Smith, that is something he finds really cool.

“I hope he designs it for our game; that would be nice. No, that’s awesome. I think that’s been the vision for a long time in a lot of places. It’s nice that we’re the first one. It’s really cool. It just shows the support we have here, and I love Greg’s golf courses.

“Is there an existing golf course there, they’re just redoing it? Yeah, so that will be awesome to have LIV’s first golf course is pretty cool.”

What Cam Smith said about LIV Golf Adelaide 2025

With the Adelaide event being so entertaining and then Patrick Reed getting a hole in one on the famous watering hole, LIV Adelaide 2025 has been a success again.

Of course, Smith is the home favourite whenever he turns up. And he’s described just what it’s like playing in front of the home crowd.

“As far as experience goes, it was amazing,” Smith quipped. “As far as how I played, not my best stuff.

“I scrambled really well the first day to kind of stay in the tournament, and then the last couple of days I actually did a lot of good stuff and just couldn’t really keep on top of it, keep the momentum going.”

With at least six more chances to win in LIV Adelaide to come, Smith will be hoping he can be a dominant force on home turf.
