LIV Miami is in the bag and the top stars from the tour will now pack their bags and head for Augusta National ahead of The Masters.

One of those top stars looking to compete and win a second major is Australian, Cam Smith.

Smith’s Rippers GC hammered the field in the team event in Miami to finish eight shots clear of their nearest rivals, The Crushers.

Of course, much of the Rippers’ scoring was carried by eventual winner Marc Leishman.

However, Smith also played well, finishing ninth in the end and ahead of The Masters, he’s assessed where his game is right now.

Cam Smith gives verdict on his golf game ahead of The Masters

Speaking to the media in the immediate aftermath of his Rippers GC winning the team title and Marc Leishman winning the individual event, Smith evaluated his game ahead of Augusta.

“I am feeling good. It’s good to have a nice round heading into a major,” Smith admitted. “I feel like I have been doing the right stuff for a while and just haven’t been finishing rounds off well.

“It was nice to finish off with a birdie today under a bit of pressure with the team. So feeling really good.”

Commenting further on the win for The Rippers and in particular his good friend Marc Leishman, Smith spoke of just how nice it was to see his fellow Aussie win out.

“It has been a long time coming for Leish. He has played so much good golf, particularly over the last year or so, and he has been knocking on the door. It is good to see him finally get it done,” Smith continued.

“There is a lot of pressure out here, it’s hard to win, and it just goes to show the quality player he is rolling in that 15 footer on 18. It’s really cool.”

LIV Golf’s top stars falter ahead of Augusta National

While it was nice to see Leishman and a few others play well, in the end, the stacked leaderboard from the second round never materialised into anything exciting.

Sergio Garcia was the only former Masters winner to keep in the mix as the likes of Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson dropped away from the pack.

Worryingly as well, Bryson DeChambeau also stuttered and dropped down the leaderboard despite being the overnight leader and two clear of the rest.

With weather playing its part and the pressure on, it does feel like LIV’s top guys fell away in Miami and it will be interesting to see if their is a bounce back of sorts when things get underway at Augusta National next week.
