Cam Smith is back on home soil for LIV Golf Adelaide, which coincides with the PGA Tour returning to Torrey Pines for the Genesis Invitational.
Bryson DeChambeau has been practising in Adelaide ahead of the second event of the 2025 season, having taken on LIV Golf Riyadh last week.
Smith praised Crushers GC ahead of LIV Golf Riyadh, of which DeChambeau is captain, while the Australian is the current captain of Ripper GC.
The all-Australian team finished second to Legion XIII in Saudi Arabia, but did manage to win the LIV Golf team championship in 2024.
LIV Golf Adelaide represented one of their two victories last time out, with Ripper GC having also won in Singapore.

Cam Smith definitely not thinking about LIV Golf and PGA Tour unification
Thomas Detry meanwhile won the latest PGA Tour event at the WM Phoenix Open, with Smith having been drawn into discussing the rival tour ahead of LIV Golf Adelaide.
Asked in his pre-tournament press conference if he spends much time thinking of a unification of the tours after Donald Trump met with Adam Scott, Smith replied simply: “No.”
And asked if he’s been surprised by how Australia has embraced LIV’s format and Ripper GC, along with his future hopes for his team, Smith said: “I honestly think that’s the amazing thing about LIV and the team stuff is we really don’t know where it’s going to go.
“If you had have told me three years ago that we’d be where we are today, I would have said no. Honestly, I think we’ve far exceeded all of our expectations, not only with venues, with the league, even within the team.
“The players continually get better. We’re just making so many great strides, and I can’t wait to see where this goes in the future.
“Where it goes, who knows. I think we all have a dream, but I think we’ll be there quicker than later. I mean, who knows.
“If we just keep growing the brand, we keep playing really good golf… last year I think we maybe had one staff and now we’ve got probably five or six, so everything just keeps growing.
“There’s definitely a feeling of exponential growth, not only within the team but within the league. It seems like every week there’s something different going on, something new, something better. Yeah, it’s been awesome to be a part of.”
Cam Smith says 100,000 Adelaide fans is LIV Golf ‘bar’
The PGA Tour and LIV Golf signed a framework agreement in June 2023, but a resolution has yet to be agreed upon.
United States President Trump did, however, recently meet with PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott in a bid to improve the discussions.
Such discussions are ongoing, with Monahan and Scott seemingly eager to reach an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) sooner rather than later.
Australian icon Scott has remained loyal to the PGA Tour amid the many LIV Golf defections, with his compatriot Smith full of praise for the rival tour.
Asked if 100,000 fans coming to LIV Golf Adelaide is testament to what fans want, he responded: “Yeah, I think this is our bar. I really do, as a league.
“We have two of the best DJs in the world playing at our event, which is pretty crazy. I’m biased because I’m massive fans of both of them.
“But it’s cool that, like Jonesy (Matt Jones) said, you can go and watch some golf, have some fun around the golf course.
“The Watering Hole is unreal. Hopefully there’s another hole-in-one there this year, and hopefully it’s one of us.
“That would be epic. And then after the round, as well, yeah, the acts, it’s incredible. It’s awesome to be a part of.”
