Sometimes, things are bigger than any sport and Bryson DeChambeau has been out there doing his bit and using his status in the game of golf to make someone’s day.
DeChambeau is one of the biggest names in the game and has enjoyed a surge in popularity thanks to his YouTube exploits.
Of course, his golf game remains at a high level as well and he proved in winning the US Open in 2024 and contending at The Masters last month that he’s very much a top player.
However, DeChambeau is at the point now where he transcends the game and people simply want to be around him.
Now, DeChambeau has gone a step further it seems in his quest to improve people’s lives and use golf and his status as a positive.
Bryson DeChambeau praised for amazing fan gesture
The top sports-people in the world can, at times, have a real opportunity to make a difference and it seems that’s what Bryson DeChambeau has done for one special youngster.
In a story doing the rounds on social media (shared by Fore Play), DeChambeau has been spending time with a young man battling cancer.
In the post, the boy’s mother explains how DeChambeau invited them both over to his house, played golf, dished out some merchandise and even allowed the youngster to choose some of Bryson’s own wardrobe to keep for good.
And over on social media, DeChambeau has been getting the praise he so rightly deserves.
One fan labelled the gesture as ‘incredible‘, while another fan made a crucial point about there being no cameras involved.
“Doing it when there’s no camera’s rolling is so much more meaningful than vice versa”
Another golf fan seemed to swallow their pride too, admitting that DeChambeau is growing on them everytime they see him.
“I mean he can be in your face, but he’s hard not to like. The more I read about him, the more he grows on me.”
While another pointed out just how important what DeChambeau is doing can be.
“The best part of being good at something is to share it with someone who looks up to you”
Another interesting comment on the story came from another fan, who shared their own story of Bryson helping out.
“My wife reached out to Bryson about one of her patients going through open heart surgery. Kids a big fan of Bryson. Within 12 hours Bryson sent a video encouraging the kid to be strong. Stand up guy.”
While finally, DeChambeau received the highest of praise as one fan compared him to the great Arnold Palmer.

Some might say he does things for the PR, some might find him ultimately genuine. But on the whole, there can be no doubting Bryson DeChambeau is having a positive impact on the game.
Sure, players will do things like this a lot and it will never get out in the media or be spoken of.
But every so often, it’s nice to hear of such tales and this isn’t a case of DeChambeau himself boasting of his actions, it’s simply a family saying thank you for some unbelievable memories.
Right now, DeChambeau is the golfer of the people and his popularity and charisma speak volumes.
With his LIV contract set to come to an end soon, he could be in for another major payday as the PIF-backed tour will be desperate to keep their star attraction.
The PGA Tour, meanwhile, will know full well they are missing a box office star.
