Bryson DeChambeau and his Crushers team have made the final of the LIV Team Championship in Michigan, just outside of Detroit.

DeChambeau beat Talor Gooch of Team Smash in the semi-finals of the LIV Team Championship on Saturday, and his Crushers team will now face off against Legion XIII and Stinger GC in the final on Sunday.

Before the semi-finals began, DeChambeau caused a stir by opting against facing Brooks Koepka at LIV Michigan.

After the match had finished, DeChambeau claimed he avoided a matchup with Koepka because he thought Gooch would be harder to beat.

He does seem to like being involved in a bit of controversy here and there. Without being overly cynical, perhaps that’s a concerted effort from him in order to help drive more views on his YouTube channel.

That said, despite the fact that he is often outspoken, he is still one of the most well-liked players in the game from a fans’ perspective.

Bryson DeChambeau comments on the LIV Michigan crowds

DeChambeau is well-known for speaking his mind during post-round press conferences.

He has experienced his fair share of problems with fans throughout the years, most recently during LIV UK at the JCB Golf & Country Club.

So when he was asked what he thought of the crowds at LIV Michigan, his answer was eagerly anticipated by those in the press room.

DeChambeau said: Yeah, I think the people of Detroit are exciting. They definitely are not afraid to speak their mind. It’s a lot of fun having the crowd out here. When I’ve been up here before, they were the same way.

It’s a lot of fun being up in Detroit, first off, and then second off, the golf course conditions, it’s in really great shape. Pretty easy golf course, but I sometimes like it that way, especially for match play. It’s fun to get after it and try to drive greens and whatnot. I think it’s a great match play golf course. Coming off of stroke play tomorrow, we’ve all got to play good golf and make a lot of birdies.

He received plenty of support from the crowds at The Cardinal at Saint John’s on Saturday.

DeChambeau is absolutely box-office, and he’s a hugely popular figure amongst the fans, but it hasn’t always been that way.

Bryson DeChambeau had a fan thrown out at the 2021 BMW Championship

Back when DeChambeau was on the PGA Tour, he was in contention to win the BMW Championship in 2021.

He faced Patrick Cantlay in a playoff – one that he eventually ended up losing.

However, before that, he got a fan thrown out of the grounds at Caves Valley.

DeChambeau reacted angrily when a fan yelled ‘Brooksy’ in his direction, in a nod to his ongoing feud at the time with Brooks Koepka.

The 2024 US Open champion immediately demanded that the fan be removed from the grounds of the golf course in Baltimore.

However, since then, DeChambeau’s relationship with the fans has completely turned around. You need look no further than the 2024 US Open at Oakmont when the crowds were pulling incredibly hard for him.

It seems like he will have gained even more followers in Detroit now as well, after his comments at LIV Michigan.
