Golf analyst Brandel Chamblee is very much becoming the go-to man on social media when it comes to starting debates over the future of professional golf.

Chamblee has been openly vocal in his criticism of the LIV Golf product ever since its inception and has had more than one thing to say about the players on that tour.

However, just this past week, there was a small sign of backtracking from him.

Chamblee spoke of his chat with Donald Trump and how he now feels a deal with the PIF will come and ultimately, it might prove good for golf. Indeed, one specific comment from Chamblee has been doing the rounds on social media:

“But I will say at the end of it, he made me change my mind and made me think about Yasser as a partner in the game, and not just looking for an economic opportunity from the game,” Chamblee commented.

Now, over on X, Chamblee has tried to clarify his comments and insisted that his main stance remains the same, but he wants the top players back on the PGA Tour.

Brandel Chamblee speaks out after being criticised for LIV Golf comments

As ever, Chamblee seemed unable to avoid the predictable pile on from the social media and replying to one fan, he tried to clarify his point.

“I didn’t say I changed my position on LIV—I still don’t like where the money comes from or the product—but I said an agreement seems inevitable now with Trump’s re-election. As much as I don’t like LIV, I miss seeing DeChambeau, Koepka and Rahm on tour,” he said.

Interestingly, while Chamblee often gets criticised online, there were a number of fan this time who fully agreed with his stance on getting Rahm, DeChambeau and Koepka back.

“I want all the LIV players to return to the PGA tour and the DP World tour. The game of golf is better when everyone is playing together, that’s when the sport has its greatest rivalries, like Tiger vs Phil, Dustin Johnson vs Brooks Koepka. Rory McIlroy vs Jon Rahm,” one fan commented.

While another also backed the stance, admitting the only people losing out are the fans.

“The only thing I can say for sure is, as a fan, we are losing. Figure it out. Every tournament that passes with this division of talent the fans of golf lose.”

With another fan also going down the same route and mentioning fans.

“We need them back and the game has suffered. Let’s hope.”

Going further into the main issues, one fan said having a difference of opinion is fine but in the end, the game needs a resolution.

“I know your stance on LIV. Can we solidify both tours in your opinion? I think we need it! I don’t have an extreme opinion either way as I like a lot of guys on both sides. It’s something in my opinion that NEEDS to happen! Bring the best back together!”

However, in the interest of balance, one fan did suggest that while they miss the top players, they do also enjoy seeing them on LIV.

“I also miss seeing DeChambeau, Brooks, Rahm on tour, but I also love watching them on @livgolf_league . Great Game, Great Tour”

Quite what his stance will be when things do eventually get sorted, will very much be an interesting take.
