Scottie Scheffler is doing his utmost to reach the heights that Tiger Woods has reached in his stunning career.

Wyndham Clark says players talk about Scheffler and his superb run of late, with the latter on six wins for the season.

He did, however, finish fourth at St Jude Championship, with Scheffler not giving himself enough opportunities to win.

But the world number one remains top of the pile in the FedExCup points list ahead of the BMW Championship.

Scheffler is in superb form ahead of the second playoff event, with an Olympic gold medal accompanying his six PGA Tour wins in 2024.

Brandel Chamblee makes Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler claim

One win involved his second Masters title, but for Brandel Chamblee he still falls some way short of the legendary Woods.

Taking to X, Chamblee wrote: “If you took the best ball striker on tour (Scottie Scheffler’s Strokes Gained off the tee and approach) and combined it with the best all around short game on tour (Mackenzie Hughes’ Strokes gained around the green and putting) and added those two numbers together you get a strokes gained total of +3.398.

“In 2006 Tiger’s strokes gained total was + 3.443. There’s never been so complete a player in the game’s history as Tiger Woods.”

Can Scottie Scheffler ever hit the heights of Tiger Woods?

Woods’ phenomenal career is unfortunately drawing to a close, with Scheffler seemingly only getting going, which is a scary thought.

The former will go down in history as one of the greatest golfers and indeed sportspeople of all time, with 15 major wins to his name.

Scheffler is certainly doing his all to emulate his compatriot, and at 28 there is every chance he can win many more majors in the coming years.

Surpassing Woods is, however, a near-impossible task, while the 48-year-old may not even be done yet despite his recent struggles.

All Scheffler can do is focus on his next event, which comes at Castle Pines Golf Club as he seeks to win his first FedExCup title.

Chamblee thinks Scheffler is more like Tom Watson, although the current number one still has plenty of time to prove his worth.
