Billy Horschel gives update on his fitness and career goals following injury
Billy Horschel is definitely one of golf’s good guys and any tournament is better with him involved.
At his best, Horschel is one of the best players in the world and it’s a shame we haven’t got to see him make a true run at making the Ryder Cup team.
Still, it seems things are looking up for Horschel and he’s been detailing his career aims after overcoming his latest setback.
“Going forward I am not worried about any situation of being injured. I think it’s actually been a really good time to have off,” Horschel explained.
“Having these three to four months to really get even stronger with my upper body. We haven’t been able to do much lower body because of the hip. But some areas in the upper body are getting stronger and can provide a bit more stability and strength and power throughout the swing.
“I still believe even at 38 turning 39 at the end of the year, I believe I am nowhere close to reaching my potential. I believe there is a lot of really good golf left in store for me. So hopefully for the next four, five, six years we can put two or three really solid years together and see what comes out of it. I think if I am able to do that, I think some of the goals that I still haven’t accomplished will be accomplished.”
Billy Horschel can win a major before he calls time
There will be a lot of happy golf fans and fellow players if and when Billy Horschel gets over the line in a major.
As of right now, he is very much in the category of ‘nearly men’ and having finished second at The Open in 2024, he’s had a taste of just how it feels to be so close.
Over the years, Horschel has finished T4 at the US Open, T8 at the PGA and now second at The Open.
The key now for the American is to go that step further and actually get that elusive major win. Horschel is more than capable, with his eight PGA Tour wins demonstrating just how good he is.
Hopefully, now he’s back from injury, he can kick on and finally get over the line in one of the big ones.
