For Bernhard Langer, his legendary run at The Masters has finally come to an end after he narrowly missed the cut at Augusta.

Langer finished his second round at three over par for the week and with the cut line at +2 thanks to some big scores up near the top, the German has just missed out.

Langer is a two-time Masters winner and has competed in 41 tournaments at Augusta National over the years, making the cut on 27 occasions and was one of only three non-Americans to win the event when he first won in 1985.

Now though, with a free weekend in front of him and time to reflect on four decades of Masters golf, Langer has revealed what his immediate plans are.

What Bernhard Langer plans on doing after missing the cut at The Masters

Given the story behind him and it being his 41st Masters tournament, Langer was always going to be good for a comment after the round.

Indeed, the German was asked just what he plans on doing now he’s out of the tournament but Langer admitted that for now, he’ll be sticking around to reflect in front of the TV cameras.

“We’re doing a documentary about my life. So it’s a documentary story that will be aired in Germany in a few months, and this is the final part of it. We’ve done everything else. We’re going to edit for a year,” Langer revealed.

“So I imagine we’ll probably — I’m going to have to sit down with them for another hour or two and talk about, you know, this tournament and my farewell, or my goodbye from being a competitor here, because the Masters is a big part of that documentary.

“And there will be a few other questions as well. So that will be one thing, and then I have all my family here. So I’m going to spend time with my family and enjoy still the tournament. We might come out and have lunch and maybe see — I’m sponsored by Rolex and by Mercedes, so I might visit them at their hospitality suite and say hello to a few people and things like that.

“But we’re not going to be bored. It’s going to be a good weekend either way.”

Bernhard Langer’s Masters record after 41 appearances

To play once at Augusta National is the dream for many a golfer. To play 41 times at the biggest golf tournament in the world is another achievement itself.

As well as those two famous wins in 85 and 93, Bernhard Langer holds a decent enough record around the famous course, even as he’s got older.

Langer’s best round at Augusta was a 66 – the same score Rory McIlroy managed in round two – while his highest was an 80, still some 10 shy of Nick Dunlap’s woeful effort of 90.

Langer has another eight top ten finishes to his name and while he’s missed the cut in the last four years, prior to that he performed more than admirably, with finishes of T38, T62 and T29 all while in his late 50s.

In terms of legends of golf and Masters greats, Bernhard Langer will very much go down as one of the best to ever do it.
