Ben Griffin is playing in the World Wide Technology Championship on the PGA Tour this week.

In his press conference before the event, Griffin not only spoke about the tournament but also about several other topics in professional golf.

He was even asked about TGL, Tiger Woods’ simulator league, which will enter its second season in January.

Griffin’s comments on the competition certainly suggested that he would like to be involved in the future.

Ben Griffin’s TGL comments suggest he wants to play

TGL received mixed reviews in its debut season, but the consensus was that it added something interesting to the professional golf landscape.

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and several other stars bought into the idea, making for an entertaining watch.

Griffin is clearly a fan of the new competition and sounded like he would gladly accept an offer to play in it.

“I think it’s amazing,” he said. “It’s another opportunity to showcase not only the top golfers in the game but also a different style of golf.

“It’s cool because simulator golf has grown significantly over the past five, 10 years. It’s gone from hardly anything, maybe you might see some simulators in some wealthy, affluent areas, but now simulator golf is going into more clubs, there’s more access to it, and it’s just a different style.

“I think anytime you can showcase golf and people are excited around it and people want to go and support it, why not? Let’s keep it going. I think what they’re doing with TGL is great, and it’s just another product for golf.”

Ben Griffin appreciates not having to fight for PGA Tour card this week

Griffin’s immediate focus is on winning his third event of the season at the World Wide Technology Championship.

Fortunately for him, he is not one of the many players in the field playing to keep their PGA Tour cards for next season.

Griffin explained how the unique blend of players in different situations should make for an exciting tournament in Mexico this week.

“Fortunately for me on Tour, I’ve been between 50 and 60, in the top 60 basically every year. I’ve never had to sweat out keeping my card,” he explained.

“So I know a lot of guys are doing that, and it’s a very important week, and the guys are locked in. It’s a fine mix of having some top golfers who have earned their way and are more relaxed, guys trying to get into the Signature Events, and guys trying to keep their card.

“It’s very stressful for a lot of them. I try to be conscious of that when I’m out there on the range. I try not to feel like I’m having too much fun because I know guys are really trying to lock in. It’s a stressful week for a lot of people.

“What makes it very exciting is the fact that you have this turnover, and you have raw competition, with every shot counting more than ever right now in these last few events.”
