Scottie Scheffler is the best player in the world right now, by a very long way.
Scheffler won The Open earlier this month – the fourth major championship of his career.
The 29-year-old has been in sensational form over the past three months, winning four times, including the PGA Championship and The Open.
Scheffler is the dominant force in the game of golf, but bizarrely, he still has his detractors.
Some were unhappy with Scheffler’s comments before The Open about lacking fulfilment from winning, whilst other fans have labelled the Dallas native as boring.
Any golf fan who calls Scottie Scheffler ‘boring’ has been told what to do
Scheffler’s approach to the game is monotoned in the sense that his attitude does not change, regardless of how he is playing.

There’s a real argument to be made that in fact, that is what makes him so good.
However, some golf fans just cannot warm to Scheffler due to his stoic personality.
And if you are one of those people, there is one thing you need to do, according to golf journalist Ryan Lavner.
First though, Rex Hoggard pointed out his thoughts on the world number one, when speaking on The Rex and Lav podcast.
Hoggard said: “I will say the person who I felt walking away from that movie [Happy Gilmore 2] who helped themselves the most was Scottie Scheffler.
“You and I both know he is a funny guy. If you don’t have a microphone and a camera in his face he has got a really good sense of humour.
“It is a cutting sense of humour and you can often be, as I have been from time to time, on the wrong side of that. It makes you feel bad a little bit! But he is a funny guy, you just don’t see it, and this gives the world an opportunity to see that.
“They did a really good job of showing that he is interesting and not the vanilla guy you see in interviews that is questioning why he does what he does for a living because all he wants to do is spend time with his family and faith.
“I would argue that maybe his golf is boring but there is a brilliant mastery to it which I don’t think many other people can have. I think there has to be a level of appreciation when he is doing Scottie Scheffler things on a golf course, I do find that entertaining. It might be boring to some people because he probably makes the game look a little too easy, makes it look a little bit too polished, but I think you can appreciate the brilliance of it and the mastery of it more than anything else.
Before Lavner offered his take.
He said: “I always say that if you think Scottie Scheffler is boring I would strongly encourage you to go out to a PGA Tour event and watch him for all 18 holes.
“He does not hit one stock shot. He does not hit two of the same shots during the course of a round. It is all about varying his trajectory and shot shape. The finishes, the footwork, the finesse, the ball control, the spin control.
“It’s all there. Scottie Scheffler in person vs Scottie Scheffler watching on TV are entirely different animals.
Scheffler to me is one of the best watches in person on the PGA Tour just because of the variability in his shot making.“
Scottie Scheffler’s 2025 PGA Tour results
It’s incredible to think now that some golf fans and journalists were questioning Scheffler at the start of the season.
The hand injury he sustained at the end of last year clearly impacted him more than people realise.
Since May though, Scheffler has been on an absolute tear. Here are his results from the 2025 season so far:
| Results | Scheffler’s results |
| Events played | 16 |
| Wins | 4 |
| Top-5s | 8 |
| Top-10s | 13 |
| Top-25s | 16 |
| Missed cuts | 0 |
The concerning thing for Scheffler’s rivals is the fact that it seems like he’s got scope to get even better.
If the four-time major winner continues to improve his putting, he will be pretty much untouchable.
