Anthony Kim has issued his verdict on his performance as the 38-year-old made his LIV Golf debut in Jeddah this week.
Many of those tuning in to LIV this week would have been doing so with a huge amount of intrigue after the Saudi-backed tour announced the signing of Anthony Kim.
Kim previously boasted almost mythical status after initially disappearing from the game in 2012. But of course, he was once seen as a future superstar of the sport. So, many wanted to find out how he would fare against some of the world’s best after more than 11 years away.
Anthony Kim reacts to his LIV debut
The 2008 Ryder Cup winner received around £5 million for joining LIV. Unfortunately, there was to be no fairytale on the scoreboards.

Kim finished last in Saudi Arabia, 33 shots behind eventual winner Joaquin Niemann. Perhaps more worryingly for LIV, he was 11 shots back of Hudson Swafford, who was second last on the leaderboard.
Understandably, Kim was not raving about his performance in his interview with LIV afterwards, but he did feel that there were some promising signs.
“Obviously it was a rough week. I’m excited to be playing professional golf again. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity, I have a lot to work on. But I had a lot of good things go my way this week. So I’m looking forward to building on that and be in contention at some point this year,” he said.
“I’m definitely hitting the ball well. I’m doing a lot of things well. The scores don’t reflect that. And it’s disappointing to score that way. But at the same time, I know I have a lot to build on. And I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing.”
A story to keep an eye on
It is hard to know what to make of Kim’s LIV debut. Obviously, on paper, it looks pretty poor. And there will be a worry that he spends the season adrift at the bottom of the leaderboards.
However, like it or not, LIV boasts many of the best players in the world right now. And given that Kim has not played a competitive round for more than a decade, you have to say that there will have been some who would have expected much, much worse.
It will be fascinating to see how his form progresses over the season. And it will almost make it a better story for LIV if he goes on to win from here after a rough start.
