Every golfer has bad moments and sometimes a bad day all around but Tom Kim has left golf fans fuming after his reaction to a missed putt this weekend.
Kim has been competing in the St Jude Championship over in Memphis and has been among a group of players to not quite hit top gear.
In the end, Kim finished down at just one under par to leave him outside the top 50 for the weekend.

It’s been an emotional few weeks for Kim. The Korean could end up doing military service after missing out on a medal at the Olympics, albeit Kim did admit Scottie Scheffler had offered some comfort during that time.

Clearly, then, this has been a testing time for Kim and he appeared to be hugely frustrated in his final round this weekend.
After missing a relatively easy putt, Kim was captured on camera slamming his putter into the putting surface and taking a decent little chunk out of the green.
Kim appeared to not even fix it either and as most golfers know, there’s no excuse for damaging the greens.
And over on social media, Kim has felt the wrath of the onlooking golf fans.
Golf fans slam Tom Kim after he damages the green at the St Jude Championship
Kim’s behaviour on this one was very much in the wrong and goes against a lot of what any golfer at any standard abides by.
Over on X, then, fans were not happy as some called for him to be handed a penalty for what he did.
Another fan, @RichBartholome4 called for Kim to be handed a suspension to set an example.
“This qualification, a fine, and two week suspension. Professionals need to start behaving like, well, professionals. The damage affects every player coming behind him, potentially.”
While another fan seemed to completely agree with the above sentiment.Tommy on X: said “DQ and fine should be the penalty. I don’t care if you snap your club because you’re p*****, that’s your problem. But damaging the green affects everyone playing behind you and the grounds crew.”
Clearly, Kim’s behaviour has not gone down well and even looking harder at the comments, it was hard to find anyone agreeing with what he did.
One suggested it sets an example for amateurs to follow suit on local greens.
Another fan, @WalkDaWalks11, did try and defend Kim a bit but admitted a penalty was needed, commenting:
“Super out of character for him but in saying that , completely uncalled for and I agree, there needs to be a stroke penalty for that behaviour on a green.”
While another concerned user stated: Not a good look and I can’t wait for all the amateurs to start doing it at my course on my greens.
It seems, then, that Tom Kim might have a few questions to answer on this one when he does his media duties!
