American golf took a huge hit towards the end of 2023 when Team Europe eased past Team USA at the Ryder Cup.
But world numbers one and two Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele respectively have helped turn the tides in 2024.
Schauffele messaged Scheffler after his Olympic gold medal, with the latter having beaten Tommy Fleetwood by one shot in Paris.
Scheffler wants a 72-hole competition at Los Angeles 2028, as does Fleetwood, having finished first and second respectively this time around.
Schauffele meanwhile won Olympic gold last time out in Tokyo, while this year he clinched two of the four major titles.

American golfers achieve feat that hasn’t happened for more than 40 years
The American emerged victorious at the PGA Championship and The Open, while his compatriot Scheffler won the Masters.
Bryson DeChambeau meanwhile won the US Open, with 2024 representing the first time since 1982 that all four men’s majors were won by Americans, as per Justin Ray.
Which American players are in the top 10 in the world rankings?
The American stars were perhaps out for revenge in 2024 after their poor showing in Rome in September, having suffered a heavy Ryder Cup defeat.
Taking the year by the scruff of the neck in particular have been Scheffler and Schauffele, with the former winning six PGA Tour titles this year.
They are joined in the top 10 in the world rankings by fellow Americans Wyndham Clark, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay and DeChambeau.
Clark and Morikawa sit fifth and sixth respectively, with Cantlay and DeChambeau currently in eighth and ninth respectively.
American golf is in fine shape, with new Team USA Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley certainly hoping the star men can continue their form right up until next year’s Ryder Cup in New York.
