Professional golf is in one of its healthiest ever states and when it comes to the future, there are countless top young players waiting to emerge on the scene.
Over the last few seasons alone we’ve seen the likes of Ludvig Aberg, Tom Kim, and Nick Dunlap burst onto the scene, while 2025 has seen Aldrich Potgieter get himself going.
Thankfully, from a Ryder Cup perspective anyway, there seems to be a split of talent emerging from both the USA and Europe.
Right now, as the Wyndham Championship drew to a close, there were plenty of eyes on some of the young talent from the American side.
Yes, it was Cam Young who finally got his first PGA Tour win at the 94th attempt but beyond Young, it was the performance of 20-year-old amateur, Jackson Koivun, that really caught the eye.

Jackson Koivun shows how deep the USA talent pool is
For those in the know in golf, Jackson Koivun’s name is not something brand new being brought to the table.
The young American has already featured in some big events in 2025 and has made four out of five cuts, with only the US Open giving him a stumbling block.
Now, at the Wyndham Championship, Koivun has once again shown everyone just how good he is.
He carded rounds of 68, 66, 65 and then a final round 67 to finish at -14 and in T5 for the tournament.
Koivun now has a top five finish to his name to build on the already impressive T11 he picked up at the John Deere and the T6 he bagged a week later at the ISCO Championship.
For Team USA and its future, seeing a player like Koivun already performing like he is on the big stage is a welcome sight.
And come the next event over in Europe, we might well see Koivun and a few more young talents making their mark.

Jackson Koivun will adapt to life as a professional with ease
We’ve already tipped Jackson Koivun to be a future superstar and it goes without saying he’s looked right at home in the events he’s played so far.
A top ten at the Wyndham makes it three brilliant finishes inside the top 12 in the last three tournaments and few young players are capable of that.
Koivun himself seems comfortable as well, although he spoke of just how good the pros are when it comes to the wedge game.
“Honestly, I think my driving has been pretty good these past couple weeks. I don’t say I hit it overly far, but I’ve been hitting it pretty straight, which is very nice and been able to gain some shots that way,” Koivun said after round three.
“And my ball-striking has been pretty good the past couple weeks, so happy with that, and I’ve always been a pretty strong putter, so that’s kind of came over pretty well.
Definitely need to work on those wedges and that short game. Those guys are really good out here, they’re like wizards with a wedge in their hand.”
Still, over time, Koivun will sharpen those wedge skills and improve everywhere else.
Right now, it looks like we’re looking at a major winner in the making.
