A lot of amateur golfers often wonder what it would be like to be a PGA Tour player and Akshay Bhatia has opened up on being just that.

The Netflix series of Full Swing has opened the doors for many of us to the life of luxury many a PGA and LIV Golf player lives.

Playing golf full-time is a privilege and if you can win a few tournaments and bring a few sponsors in, the riches and lifestyle follow.

But just like with any job, there are pitfalls and difficulties.

And speaking about what’s so hard about being a full-time tour player, 22-year-old sensation Akshay Bhatia has shared some of the things he’s learned already.

Akshay Bhatia shares what’s so hard about being a PGA Tour player

Speaking on The Smylie Show Podcast with Smylie Kauffman, Bhatia revealed that there’s so much to consider when being a pro on the PGA Tour.

“Yeah, I, you know, I started working with Ryan Davis and, you know, there’s more than just the golf stuff that I’ve been working on, but more life stuff. And I don’t think a lot of people realize, you know, what it takes to be a professional golfer, especially at a high level. You’re not just a golfer, you’re CEO of a business,” Bhatia said.

“And, you know, adding a lot of people to my team and having people that have been there since day one is, it’s a big deal to be 22 and kind of run the show. So, yeah, I just started talking to him during players. And I think everyone knows Julie Ellion, who has helped with them and JT and, you know, Max.
And just kind of shows how important it is to be strong. You know, every week, because one week can change your life. And yeah, that week, you know, I had a sense of calmness, but throughout the whole week, I was very stressed out. And I think changing the dialogue is important. You know, sometimes I’ll be like, oh, I feel very anxious. But more so being on the PGA Tour and playing tour events, it is stressful.”

Golfers are human but we’d all trade places

It’s an interesting take from Bhatia here about being a pro and not one you often here. It’s intriguing to hear him speak of bringing people onboard and the fact he is just 22, means he has a lot of learning to do.

All that being said, though, we’d all swap with him in a heartbeat. Not that Bhatia comes across as ungrateful in anyway shape or form here. But the idea for any golf amateur that they’d be good enough to play and win on the PGA Tour is the stuff of dreams.

Bhatia, then, will hopefully get those right people around him and continue to shine as he is right now.

Two wins at just 22 is quite some feat and backing against him to nab a major in the next few years would almost seem foolish.
