Adam Scott returns to the Charles Schwab Challenge this week, his first start at the competition since 2018.

He tied for 52nd back then, with the trophy going to Justin Rose, who is also coming back to Colonial Country Club for the tournament.

Scott may have missed the cut at the PGA Championship, but the 14-time TOUR winner is in fine form overall.

The Australian has five top-25s in 10 starts this year, with his best finish coming at the WM Phoenix Open in February, where he tied for eighth.

Texas is certainly a happy hunting ground for the 43-year-old, who has won all four TOUR events in the state.

Adam Scott shares recent issue that is holding him back

Scott boasts wins at the Valero Texas Open, the Texas Children’s Houston Open, THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and at Colonial.

But one area that he has had issues with in more recent times is on the greens, with the experienced Australian aiming to put that right this week.

“The state of my game had been pretty solid all around, but I struggled on the greens last week and I have struggled on the greens the two previous weeks before that,” said Scott, as per the official PGA TOUR website.

“So that’s really held me back. I think my game is in better shape than results are showing. I know pretty much everyone who is not in the top 10 in the world is probably saying that, but that’s how I feel.

“A little like I opened with, I hope that some good karma from this golf course kind of inspires a few better things for me on the golf course this week.”

Big names set for Charles Schwab Challenge

The Colonial hosts the Charles Schwab for the 78th year, and will include world number one Scottie Scheffler.

He has been spotted by Golf Channel journalist Hailey Hunter hitting a lot of putts from the back of the greens in preparation.

Scheffler will be joined by the likes of Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and Justin Rose, who are all set for a fresh challenge in Texas.

The course has new grass and new bunkers, while some greens are lower. It is, however, the same route along the Trinity River that players have been used to since the very first tournament back in 1946.

There have been many memorable wins at Colonial over the years, one of which came 24 years ago as Phil Mickelson clinched the MasterCard Colonial title.
