Adam Scott is among the high-profile names taking on the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne this week.

Scott is one of many Australian players in the field for the Australian Open, alongside Min Woo Lee and Cam Smith.

Smith has been praised by Scott ahead of the event, despite the former missing the cut at last week’s Australian PGA Championship.

David Puig won the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland, where Scott finished seventh, five shots behind the winner.

Adam Scott rates his current level before the Australian Open

The former Masters champion now turns his focus to the Australian Open, but he also has one eye on the 2026 Presidents Cup.

“Yeah, I think it’s the forefront of every international player’s mind coming around,” said Scott, as quoted by Golf Digest.

“It’s going to be a big event in Medinah and personally for me it’s top of the list of goals for next year is making Geoff [Ogilvy’s] team.

“[In 2028], I’m fairly confident I can still be a relevant player at the top of the game, but I’d like to play at Kingston Heath. I think that’d be incredible.

“I set pretty high goals when I was a kid I think, and I’m far from living up to many of them, but I’d like to notch off a few more of them, if I can tick off a few more of them before I’m not playing on tour anymore, I don’t know when that is, but I still feel like the game is good enough to do it.

“The stats and all the things we kind of measure by [suggest] I’m still relevant. If I can just narrow my focus a little bit and sharpen it up to get back to winning some events, I think there are some big ones in me still.”

Who do you think will win the Australian Open?

“If you had told me that was gonna happen this morning when I was warming up, I would have told you otherwise.“I don’t know. I just don’t know. I’m so confused.”

Adam Scott likely to feature at future Presidents Cup events

Scott last claimed a win at The Genesis Invitational in 2020, seven years after his superb success at The Masters.

But he’s been a regular on the International Team at the Presidents Cup, having made a huge 11 appearances in the team event.

Medinah Country Club will host the next edition in 2026, with Kingston Heath in Victoria, Australia the host in 2028.

The event then heads to Missouri’s Bellerive Country Club in 2030, with the United States having won 13 of the 15 Presidents Cup tournaments.

Despite his lack of success in recent times, world number 62 Scott should still be a key figure in the next two editions at least, with his vast experience set to work strongly in his favor.

First, however, he’ll be looking to continue his momentum on home soil this week, although the talented field also includes the likes of Rory McIlroy and Joaquin Niemann.
