Australian star Adam Scott has shared what Steve Williams said to him just before he holed his winning putt at the 2013 Masters.
Scott sealed victory on the second playoff hole at Augusta National after making birdie on the 18th.
Scott, who is on a record-breaking major championship run, has now detailed what Williams said to him before holing his birdie putt on the tenth.
Adam Scott says he changed his mind after speaking to Steve Williams at the Masters

Appearing on the Mark Golf Podcast, Scott revealed that Williams had told him to aim his putt another cup outside, instead of just one.
“The read was the big thing on that putt, and I’ve talked about it before. Steve Williams was caddying for me,” Scott said. “We were both reading the putt. I said ‘I think it’s breaking a cup, what do you think.’
“He said, ‘I think it’s breaking two cups, and it breaks a lot, Adam.’ I said, ‘Have you seen this putt before?’ That’s a big difference. That’s 100 per cent more break. He said, ‘Adam, you have to believe me; it breaks up here a lot.’ We had a good thing going at the time, especially that day.”
Steve Williams’ ridiculous net worth shared after Tiger Woods relationship
Remarkably, Williams, who was Tiger Woods’ caddie during the 15-time major winner’s heyday, was once known as the highest-earning sportsperson in New Zealand.
Williams worked for Woods between 1999 and 2011 and has earned a reported fortune of £15.7 million.
The 60-year-old’s association with Scott in 2011 ended his golden era with Woods. Williams stopped working for Scott in 2017 before reuniting with the Aussie for a season in 2022.
It’s believed Williams’ decision to caddie for Scott during the 2011 US Open whilst Woods was injured caused friction between the pair.
