The prize money at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is $9 million. The event will allocate 17% of the total purse to the winner ($1.53m). The runner-up will receive $990,000, while $567,000 will go to third place.

Jordan Harris: “Tyrrell Hatton has had an underrated year, with victories at LIV Golf Nashville and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

“This event has been hosted at Yas Links on two previous occasions, and he finished in the top 10 both times, so perhaps he’ll secure another win this week. He also won this tournament in 2021 before it was moved.”

James Shearman: “Tommy Fleetwood has still not won on the PGA Tour but he is 10th in the Offical World Golf Rankings for a reason. The Englishman is consistently good in majors and DP World Tour events.

“And, two of Fleetwood’s 10 professional wins have come at this event (2017, 2018) – albeit on a different course. I’m expecting him to have a big week at Yas Links and jump from 15th to the top six in the Ryder Cup qualification standings.”

Sam Stone: “I am going for Thriston Lawrence this week. Of course, Rory McIlroy is the overwhelming favourite, but the South African is hot on the four-time major winner’s heels in the Race to Dubai rankings.

“Making putts will be vital at Yas Links, and Lawrence is as good as they come with the flat stick. The soon-to-be PGA Tour man is due a victory and I fancy him to compete ahead of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.”
