Tyrrell Hatton might have come out as a winner in his first LIV Golf event but it’s safe to say the celebrations didn’t quite go to plan.
Much like in the F1 world, LIV Golf goes for the big champagne popping celebrations at the end of a tournament.
Of course, this weekend saw Jon Rahm’s new Legion XIII crew snatch the team victory and a cool £3m prize in doing so.
However, while the win was a good one for Rahm and new teammates Tyrell Hatton, Caleb Surrat and Kieran Vincent, the celebrations didn’t quite go like Hatton would have liked.

Tyrrell Hatton explains his ‘absolute shocker’ during LIV celebrations
Speaking on the LIV Golf YouTube winner’s interview, Hatton shared that while his teammates were enjoying the champagne spray, he simply couldn’t get going.
“I had an absolute shocker. I said to the lads at the back don’t spray it in each other’s face. And I had my champagne ready and the cork went off, so I had to get another one and then I couldn’t undo it! So everyone had sprayed their champagne and I was looking like an idiot at the back. Eventually I did get it off and then I just sprayed everyone in the face anyway,” Hatton said.
Even all the money in the world can’t fix this one
This a fun story really from Hatton and makes light of the fact he had an absolute stinker in his first LIV win.
Luckily for him, LIV has plenty of money in the bank to keep funding bottles of champagne so if it happens again, he’ll simply need to reach to the back and get handed another like he did here.
On the golfing side of things though, this was a good weekend for Hatton and LIV in general.
The fiasco with Wyndham Clark winning through just 54 holes at Pebble Beach meant more eyes on the LIV product and with an exciting finish between Sergio Garcia and Joaquin Niemann, it was one of the best weekends yet for the PIF-backed tour.
