13-time PGA Tour winner withdraws from Truist Championship with his replacement confirmed

The PGA Tour heads to Philadelphia Cricket Club this week for the Truist Championship – a Signature Event.

Scottie Scheffler pulled out of the Truist Championship last week, in what was a real blow to the PGA Tour.

However, the likes of Masters champion Rory McIlroy, recent RBC Heritage winner Justin Thomas and reigning PGA Championship and Open champion Xander Schauffele will be in Philadelphia.

2025 is warming up nicely, with all of the best players in the world coming into form just in time for major season.

However, one of the the top 50 ranked players in the world will not be playing at Philadelphia Cricket Club this week.

Jason Day withdraws from Truist Championship

Poor old Jason Day has had to deal with numerous injury problems throughout his career.

That said, no reason has been given for his withdrawal from the event at Philadelphia Cricket Club, so we can only assume.

Day has been outspoken about Signature Events like the Truist Championship in the past, highlighting how the tour actually need to go down the route of having less, higher quality events.

Day has actually been working his way back to form recently.

The 13-time PGA Tour winner has three top-10 finishes to his name in nine events played so far this season.

In the past, Day has suffered terrible lower back pain, and has struggled with vertigo numerous times out on the course.

Hopefully his reason for withdrawing from the Truist Championship is nothing too serious.

Jason Day’s replacement confirmed at the Truist Championship

Patrick Rodgers will replace Day at Philly Cricket Club this week.

Rodgers is currently ranked 72nd in the world, and he has been showing signs of huge improvement this season.

He secured a tie for 3rd place at The Genesis at Torrey Pines earlier this season, and finished in a tie for 15th at CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week.

Rodgers may not win this week, but he is a very solid player, and he will be relishing his opportunity.

That said, it is a big shame that Day will not be at the Truist Championship.

Let’s hope that the former PGA champion is ready to go at Quail Hollow next week.
