Tommy Fleetwood is unquestionably one of the best drivers of the golf ball in the professional game today.

Fleetwood might not be the longest hitter but he still averages just under 300 yards off the tee on the PGA Tour and he hits around two thirds of the fairways in tournament rounds.

The 34-year-old Englishman has been in stunning form this week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and leads by four shots with two rounds remaining.

Fleetwood was delighted with his second round 64 at the FedEx St. Jude, and his driving played a key role in his score of six-under par.

He is more than deserving of a win, and he’s in a great position to achieve that this week.

Fleetwood was in fine form in practice before the FedEx St. Jude Championship began, and his golf this week has proven that he is right at the top of his game at the moment.

It’s incredible to think that he is still yet to win on the PGA Tour in 161 attempts.

Someone who strikes the ball as well as Fleetwood should have multiple wins in America to his name already.

Fleetwood’s likeable demeanour has always made it seem like he’s more approachable than other top PGA Tour pros.

The Englishman is always willing to try and help out amateur golfers wherever he can.

Fleetwood was a guest on the Me And My Golf Podcast, and explained how high-handicap golfers can improve their driving immediately.

He said: I would just say get fitted for a driver. Do people try and do too much with a driver?

I would find a shot that works for you. Golf is an unbelievably hard game, and people don’t say how hard it is sometimes.

Even us as professional golfers, we still play within ourselves, we don’t try to hit shots we can’t hit.

I think for high handicappers going on a range, see if there’s a pattern in what shot you hit. Don’t be afraid if that’s your golf shot. If you’re a slicer or a drawer, if that’s your golf shot and you’re going to get it in play more often than not, play it.

Tommy Fleetwood’s 2025 PGA Tour stats

Fleetwood is one of the most solid players on the PGA Tour.

Here are his stats from the 2025 season so far:

StatsFleetwood’s rank
Strokes gained off the tee43rd
Strokes gained approach9th
Strokes gained around the green16th
Strokes gained putting59th
Strokes gained total4th

It’s clear to see from those stats that Fleetwood has been extremely consistent in all departments of his game on the PGA Tour this season.

However, if he is to get across the line and finally win on the PGA Tour, he will need to putt well during the final two rounds of the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

He has putted well during the first two rounds and currently sits in 10th spot in strokes gained on the greens.

More of that will be required this weekend.
