Few players have been more impressive over the last couple of years than Ludvig Aberg, with the Swede enjoying a meteoric rise since turning professional.
Heading into the 2023 season, few golf fans would have had a clue who Ludvig Aberg was. The youngster turned professional midway through the year, and won on the DP World Tour shortly after. That was enough to earn him a spot on Luke Donald‘s European Ryder Cup team for Rome.
Aberg played his part in the largest win in Ryder Cup history as he and Viktor Hovland beat Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka 9&7. And he won The RSM Classic for his first PGA Tour victory shortly after.
Aberg marked his major championship debut by finishing second at The Masters in 2024. But the breakout moment of a superstar arguably came at the Genesis Invitational as he won at Torrey Pines.
Ludvig Aberg shares the drill he uses which is ‘the best thing ever’
With that in mind, it feels like a matter of time before the 25-year-old does win a first major title.
So fans may be interested to know some of the secrets of his success, with Tiger Woods amongst Aberg’s admirers.
And in an interview with Golf.com, Aberg shared what he considers to be his best drill on the range when he is looking to practice all kinds of shots.

“We have this nine window drill that we do a lot, and I think it’s the best thing ever. You imagine a grid with nine different windows, so you have low fade, mid fade, high fade and obviously all the other ones. And I like to do it with my seven wood, because then it really exposes, hey, I need to flight it, I need to hit it high,” he said.
“So that’s a good one that I like to do, maybe not in the warm-up before a round. That would be more so after the round maybe, a training week obviously I’ll do it. I think those are always good, and it kind of gets you back to zero. Plus, it gives you an idea of okay, this is what we’re struggling with, this is what we can do better. Maybe one day I’m nailing the draws, but I can’t hold it, so I think it just gives you a good idea of where you stand and where you are.”
What Jordan Spieth said about Ludvig Aberg after playing together at the Genesis Invitational
Aberg is one of the most impressive players on the planet right now. He has been in the top 10 in the world for so much of his career. He has won a signature event on the PGA Tour, while he was in the mix at both The Masters and the US Open – though he fell away over the weekend at Pinehurst.
And it says a lot that so many of his peers have been so taken by how good Aberg has been. In fact, speaking on The Smylie Show earlier this year, Jordan Spieth outlined how impressed he had been by Aberg after they were paired together at the Genesis Invitational.
“He just didn’t get anything to go in the first day and then started to have a couple fall early in the second round and then he was back to being under par for the tournament,” he said.
“I told my wife after the first round he was as impressive I have seen in a long time. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins a lot of events this year going forward. It’s only his third year or second full year.”
Certainly, plenty of fans will be backing Aberg to be right in the mix down the stretch on Sunday at The Masters later this month.
