If you want to get better at golf across the board, then listening to a nine time major winner like Gary Player could go a long way to helping.

In a modern world of YouTube and TikTok golf with tips and tricks videos everywhere, sometimes you simply cannot beat a good bit of advice from one of the game’s very best.

Gary Player is certainly in that conversation, having won multiple majors and competed with the very best in the business over his career.

Over the last few years, Player has used his profile and presence on online media to help so many golfers.

And in the last few days, he’s been on his X account once again telling us amateurs just how to play more consistent golf with a very easy and relatable tip.

Gary Player’s latest golf tip to help amateurs play better golf

Taking to social media to share a clip of himself hitting the golf ball with a nugget of information alongside, Player once again showed how easy golf can be.

In his clip, Player shows how to get the downswing right and crucially, explains how rotating the hips is the key for any golfer to get better results.

“Emphasis on initiating the downswing correctly, by rotating your hips, is in my opinion the key ingredient to playing consistent golf. This is because rotation ensures the hands/arms fall into the correct place resulting in you hitting the ball from the inside.”

These sorts of tip videos from Player and other legends of the game are always insightful.

And while this one is on the shorter side, it’s definitely worth watching.

What Gary Player tells amateurs to do to get out of bunkers

Player has always been a joy to listen to and he certainly doesn’t lack confidence.

But that’s what you get from one of the best to ever swing a golf club and ultimately, he is a man worth listening to.

Indeed, Player has previously given a genius bunker tip too, as he continues his quest to help us more average golfers.

“Weight on the front, right? You’ve got to cock the wrist, see. Not there. Cock the wrist, then you’ve got to get your club into the ball early. Make sure the club head gets to the ball earlier,” Player explained in a previous tips video.

Of course, putting all this together is another matter entirely.

But if amateurs can take one or two tips from Player and get them in their game, then surely the results will follow.
