If you want to listen to the professionals from the world of golf give out their tips for getting out of bunkers, then nine-time major winner Gary Player is someone we could all take advice from.
Getting out of bunkers is seen as one of the toughest elements of golf.
Yes, there are plenty of those out there at all levels who can hit the ball out of the sand and get it back into the green stuff. But getting it out of the bunker with any sort of finesse or putting it where you want on the green, is a whole other matter entirely.
Luckily for us mere mortals, the old dogs of the game like Gary Player are on hand to demonstrate their top tips.
And that’s exactly what Player has been doing this week over on his social media.

Gary Player shares his top tip for getting out of bunkers
If you find yourself in a bunker and have the moment of panic, then there are all sorts of training videos and advice out there to learn from.
However, after Player posted on social media this week with his own tip and demo, it’s something so easy that amateurs can take it away and practice with ease.
Speaking to a small audience how to get the ball out, Player explains how it’s all about wrist and speed.
“Weight on the front, right? You’ve got to cock the wrist, see. Not there. Cock the wrist, then you’ve got to get your club into the ball early. Make sure the club head gets to the ball earlier,” Player explained.
Who Justin Thomas says is the best bunker player on the PGA Tour
While bunker play is a problem for most amateurs, that’s not the same for the PGA Tour players we see on our screens every week.
Most of them would rather be in the bunker than the rough most of the time.
But when it comes to the very best out there, Justin Thomas believes that his good friend Jordan Spieth is the main man.
“Sometimes you get 50, 60 yards in the bunker, it’s like the hardest shot ever and you know you kind of almost play a blade, but because of how small of a swing you’re taking, if you just hit fractionally behind the ball, you hit it literally eight yards and you look so dumb,” he said.
“Jordan is the best out of bunkers. You put him in this bunker back here and he just grabs 60. He’s so good at hitting on the back of the ball.”
With so little margin for error now on the PGA Tour, it’s little wonder bunker play is so important.
Indeed, we might even see a few PGA players take heed of Player’s advice here.
