The 2022 Scottish Open is probably not a week that lives long in the memory of Scottie Scheffler given how good the world number one is at switching off.

As it happens, an American was victorious that week at The Renaissance Club. Xander Schauffele finished one shot clear of Kurt Kitayama.

Scottie Scheffler missed the cut after reaching the halfway mark at five over par.

Scheffler would go on to miss the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Championship a few weeks later. But there is something that the 29-year-old has still not done since that week in Scotland.

What is terrifying is that all of his rivals do not come close to finding themselves on a similar run.

The incredible run Scottie Scheffler has put together since the 2022 Scottish Open

Unsurprisingly, Scheffler performed well with his driver and irons in North Berwick. However, he struggled on and around the greens.

According to Data Golf‘s true strokes gained data, Scheffler lost 0.31 shots to the field that week in the United Kingdom.

That – as hard as it is to believe – remains the last time Scheffler has lost strokes to the field in any individual event he has played.

Many will remember Scheffler losing his cool at the 2024 BMW Championship. But he still managed to keep himself in the positive numbers, just about.

How close the likes of Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, and Jon Rahm come to matching Scheffler’s run

Few golf fans are thinking about strokes gained data during a tournament. So it is difficult to grasp just how impressive Scheffler’s run truly is.

What does help provide some context is looking at the other nine players in the top 10 of the Data Golf rankings currently.

The likes of Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm, and Rory McIlroy join Scheffler in that list. Meanwhile, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau also feature.

Notice the year every other player on the list last played a tournament in which they lost strokes to the field.

Scheffler makes consistency look so easy.

And the fact that none of his rivals can come close to matching his run right now is incredibly ominous ahead of 2026.
